I've never been fond of mainstream rap. This new "hip-pop" on the radio drives me fucking insane and anyone who calls it rap does not know music. So I ask, who is the best rapper or rap group of all time?

I picked Nas because he's the most lyrically talented by far (and in general) on that list, Illmatic is a sick album. Wu-Tang second because I like Ghostface & GZA

Some others I like: Vordul Mega from Cannibal Ox is one of my favorites, Kool Keith, Big L, MF Doom, Del, and Mobb Deep's first album.

Rahzel raps, but it isn't anything special, he is definitely known as a beatboxer. (Check his MySpace or Wiki article.)
I could name thousands of people who impress me as much as Razhel on the mic when it comes to rapping, I can only name about 5-10 who match up with Wu or Nas.

Im waiting for Dre's new album to drop that should be pretty fire hes been working on it for like 6 years now.

That new Snoop album is very legit also. Anyone who hasnt heard it should give it a listen. Every song has a completely different taste to it. Some techo, some folk, a country song, rock song, just overall brillant album.

I can understand being picky with music, but there's a point where people are just plain fucking neglecting the skill they see with certain things.

music is an entire complilation of lyrics(if used) melody and rythm. Sure, maybe some people wouldn't be so great without the beats.

But if Rahzel freestyled, I'd fuckin say he could still beat a lot of people, maybe not the worlds best 15 rappers, but there's a lot of wack shitty rap out there.

I mean southern rap......there's nothing too special about it. It's not the most creative and while Mobb Deep's lyrics aren't the greatest either they make up for it with the music. There's a lot of super classic beats on the infamous. That alone blows UGK away IMO, rapping aside.

shit, I think Mobb Deep rapped with fucking insanity on Juvenille Hell, that's one of my favorite cd's.

I think Hell On Earth has some classic beats, and I think they did a pretty bang up job with the lyrics.

the beats on The Infamous are pretty bad ass, but their lyrics slipped a little to me compared to hell on earth, overall probably their most positive album though

and damn there were some good beats.

agreed. most of his quality work isnt in mainstream its in his underground mixtapes.

there is no one right now who produces the volume and quality of work that wayne does.
