Help finding a certain material

I need a material that will let light in on one side and the other side will block it out completely. I know it kinda sounds like it doesnt exist but I need to see if anyone knows of anything that will work! Basically what I am planning is building a small tent inside my DR80 that I can keep a mother or two in.

The plan is to enclose the mothers inside a smaller tent that has a top the the HPS penetrates but light cant get out of the mother tent. And I will have a small led or CFL inside the mother tent that comes on when the HPS goes off. The mother tents light will come on when HPS goes off and go off when the HPS comes on. The mother tent will have a small light proof intake and exhaust. The only thing I cannot figure out is how to block the light from getting out while allowing light IN.

Sounds like something too good to be true, otherwise it would be widely known.

That's like the unicorn of plastic if you find it.
