I'm looking to make a couple cabinets. one small veg 3x4 5ft tall. and a flower 9x5 up to 6ft tall w air cooled lights and carbon filter eventually.
they will be in an area of finished basement.
what should i use for the walls. 2x4s frame with plywood painted white? do i drywall it instead and paint that?
just trying to figure out a few things before i go furthur.
thanks for any ideas

2x4's with plywood, is my call.
keep it cheap and keep it simple.

my budget is my tax return lol.
after a few lights, pumps, fan and filter there isnt much left. so thats why i'm gonna build my own cabinet instead of a tent. looking to put most money into the other supplies.
i have exta cheap linoleum 'im gonna use for floor, for easy cleaning. so plywood painted would work ok? just dont get wet

You can use plywoode or OSB(very cheap) and as long as you paint it with a couple coats of Killz latex cover-up paint water shouldnt be a problem unless it's constant.
Also if you can get some framing smaller then a 2x4 or just rip them in half you will save a ton of space and weight. A 1x2 frame with 5/8 OSB will be plenty strong unless you had a heavy magnetic ballast or something that needs some real support.
