Marijuana. Am I the only one who objects to this word? I see soo many advocates that use the term marijuana. I've erased this word from my spoken vocabulary. I use cannabis. I know this is off topic but the end said, Marijuana Legalize It. Everything is marijuana this or marijuana that. I can't believe it's even used here as the forum names. can someone convince me otherwise?

No you are not alone on that matter. I dont care for the term myself. Why not just refer to it by its proper name "cannabis". I mean does anyone know where the word Marijuana came from anyways?

Harry J. Anslinger invented the word to instill fear to the people, by blaming it on the mexicans for the "Marihuana" smuggling.
...or something along those lines

I use cannabis too, the government calls it Marijuana. In my opinion unless your Mexican (or speak Spanish anyway) you shouldn't be calling it marijuana. Although I'll admit I really like calling it Ganja; but I'm nowhere near Jamaican enough to justify doing so.

LOL I have never heard a mexican call it Marijuana though. Its always been "Mota" (spelling?)

When i was in mexico a few years ago I walked up to a random mexican guy pushing an ice cream cart by the beach and I said something like, "Yo quero Mota?!" And he took me to this van and sold me a nice $20 sac. Everyone was in disbelief when i came back with that herb. It wasn't the best weed but it did the trick for a small house of about 15 people. but yeah, i can't recall any of them saying marijuana. That was a really fun trip. We had a deaf girl that was with us and she was kinda sitting over to the side on the back porch and i lit up a j and she came running over when she smelled it. We gave her some and apparently it was the first time she smoked in over a year. SHe slept for 45 hours, no joke! And this was spring break in college. We had a bit left over after it was all done and i took it back across the boarder and gave it to her when we got home. I LOVE how cannabis brings us all together.

I say canny, or cannabis. I just find that rather fitting and not over used.
