anyone know what causes a young plants leaves to turn yellow? sorry for no pics.

uhhh i think not.... you should let them go until the plant feels the need to drop the dead/dying leaves on its own... dont mutilate your plants :-\

There are 2 common causes to the yellowing of leaves:
1: Overwatering will choke the roots of the plant
2: Nitrogen deficiency
Yellowing leaves will begin to be noticeable starting at the bottom and working its way up if problems continue.

there are more then two common causes for leaves yellowing I'm afraid.
Besides the aforementioned, it's possible your plants are over fertilized, experiencing a Mg deficiency, a P deficiency, not enough root space....
More information is needed before we can diagnose your plants. If you head over to the sick plant forum you'll find a template which can help us give a proper diagnosis of what may have happened.

it could be many different reasons... N deficiency, PH imbalance, nute lockout due to buildup....etc
