pH problem?
    #241449 - 06/20/09 09:37 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

So i have a few seeds I planted got four strong ones and ended up with 2 females. They have been doing very well. They are in five gallon pots with a mix of about 75/25 ocean forest/light warrior.

I have been feeding it fox farm grow big on on about every other watering and a heavy feeding about every 2 weeks. I just started adding the big bloom yesterday with a initial heavy feeding. I also just got a pH test kit.My tap water shows about 8.0.

So now that the background info is out of the way. The problem is some of my older fan leaves are turning yellow with brown almost rust looking spots on them.

They begin to yellow in the center of the leaves. I have removed most of the really bad ones.I know I have to get the pH down to about 6.3 to 6.7. I will take care of that tomorrow.

Will the yellowing continue? How can I fix it? Thanks for looking

The yellowing

yeah thats no biggie.....it looks and sounds like the beggining of a nitrogen dificiency so it hasnt gone through too much stress yet..... feed it ph adjusted water and see how that goes because a ph dificiency can cause a nutrient lockout which will cause the plant to not be able to absorb certain nutes....... like i said its not bad yet and easily reversable....if your using tap water then its better to leave it set out a day or two to let the choramines evaporate

Cool the fox farm grow big is full of N so I dont think it is that unless the lockout. I also have been watering out of a hose except when I feed it then I mix it in a gallon jug. I will have to get a container for the water to set out.

What can I do if the roots are locked out? Can I add anything to the soil? How can I reverse it?

Thanks

just balance out the ph of the water when you feed them to around 6.5 -7.0 for soil

So the problem is still happening. I have adjusted the pH and it has gotten worse. I have new pics. The leaves get spotty and then get worse and turn brown and then to almost black at tips and leaf edges. Also it has been moving up the plant. I also have been seeing white powdery spots on the leaves. what is that and how do I remedy it.

So I could really use some pro advice.
Thanks in advance
Kupa

White powdery spots on the leaves, specially the bottom of the leaves, could be fungal. Do you mist or spray your plants?

But honestly brah, your plants don't look that bad! Your gonna get dieing fan leaves as the older leaves are replaced by newer growth.

the deficiency still doesnt look too bad yet and hasnt progressed as fast as it could.....so keep adjusting and letting the water set out before you add nutes... then next time you feed just up the dose of the nutrients a little bit but not too much.....then the next time you feed after that, check and see the results and adjust accordingly.....
