I think it's a bit early to determine a nutrient deficiency... I don't usually give my plants any nutes until they are about 6" tall and have lots of nodes... I think you might be killing it using that much on such a juvenile... I'd recommend a total soil flush with straight water to avoid burning it up!

i put in nutes after that leaf looked like it was going bad. i tested the soil for nitrogen before i put the fertilizer in and it was pretty low. you think i should still flush?

6/6/2009 - Decided to cut the leaf off because it was getting worse, curling up and wilting, crumbly dry. Cut it at the petiole opposed to at the stem, I did this for two reasons:
1. Cutting near the stem could risk cutting through the epidermis leading to infection,
2. Cutting the leaf off at the petiole exposes a smaller surface area which means less space to close off and less of a chance to get infected.

The plant was looking worse but started looking a little better today and yesterday. Hopefully it is the fertilizer kicking in. The leaves are getting a little greener. I've been flushing everyday with water since I fertilized (i.e. watering until it drains out the bottom to make sure the soil is all moist). The cotyledons are pretty much completely wilted...yellow and droopy
Moved a little soil to look at the roots and they are white and healthy looking. That's a relief at least, compared to the leaves.
I know that by watering that much it is probably washing out the fertilizer, but at the least diluting it a little.
I wanted to make sure the soil was wet and the plant had plenty of water since it is now about 90F during the day and around 77F at night. Humidity is about 60% outside.
