My friend is thinkin of doin a grow and was wondering how legit are 400 or 600W lights? He would wanna use one but feels that CFLs would be safer. Dont need the popo knockin on his door.
He shouldn't worry so much. Unless he has several high wattage HIDs, don't expect IR or electrical consumption to be an issue. CFL's aren't really that good for flowering. He will be disappointed.
