discrimination
    #218693 -

i think discrimination should be legal.

it mostly is, but in regards to things such as race, it is not.

let's say i work for a car rental company and i sell cars.

now there are laws that say you can't discriminate based on race... right? yes.

but they are allowed to discriminate other ways, for example, if you are under 25 they can discriminate. so if you're under 25 and you try to rent a car i'm gonna tell you to fuck off. if you are over 65 i might charge you more encase your old ass wrecks my shit.

anyways my whole fucking point is, discrimination is legal, only certain parts are illegal. how is it fair to discriminate based on age but you can't discriminate based on the color of someone's skin? discrimination makes things PERSONAL. it makes things more EFFICIENT.

say white people in general have a bad habit of not paying their credit card bills and going into bankruptcy, while black people always pay. the cost of borrowing money is based on a lot of things, but risk is a major one. so in today's world, instead of just charging the white race more cause they can't manage their money, they charge everyone more. i don't see how that's fair.

i'm not saying loan prices should be entirely based on race or on race at all (bad example, but certain races actually default on loans more often than others that is true), but absolute discrimination allows you to personalize and efficiently price your goods and services to each individual.

however, i do think it would suck to be born lets say pink and be charged more than everyone based on the color of my skin... but they will just find other ways to discriminate against you. discrimination is necessary and valuable. the government keeps outlawing parts

i can see both parts of the argument, however i'm antigovernment intervention anyways.

edit: i also don't find it ethical, but i don't think it should be a legal issue or controlled by a government necessarily unless the discrimination impedes on someone's natural rights and freedom

Interesting point.
I do know you can take age discrimination to court though.
I have to sit and think about this one, good topic.

nah its not

age discrimination is legal.

mainly because there are already legal age groups like senior citizens and adults...etc.

however i don't know an age group that ends at 25, and some places require you to be 25 to rent a car or rent a nice condo/house.

also, this one confused me, you can't discriminate based on sex, however insurance companies charge adolescent boys more than adolescent girls.

and please don't misunderstand me, i'm not saying racism or discrimination is ethical, i just don't think the government should have a say. and the fact that discrimination will always exist.

and another interesting point: black guy and white guy go to get a job. if the white guy gets it, it can be discrimination. if the black guy gets it, it can't be discrimination. that's just affirmative action, but the point is the government doesn't recognize discrimination of white males. we can't be illegally "discriminated" against.

either way, many private corporations recognize that diversity can be very beneficial and diversify their employees anyways. i don't even know why affirmative action still exists.

Systemic racism, sexism, ageism all exist.
This sanctioned discrimination is largely under looked and is legal, although it is ethically wrong.
IF you think that people should be given different treatment due to skin colour, age, gender, income that is in violation with human rights laws, but it exists because it is used to maintain the status quo and social order, (especially concerning class and income).
In that itself I find it is wrong to discriminate because it allows the rich to get richer and the poor to stay poor, and allows for little social movement making it nearly impossible for the less privileged to move up in status...because in the end its all about money.

Kinda off topic...Just a thought.
