hey, im planning on cloning some of my plants. i went to an orchard supply store and they didnt have any rockwool or peat pellets so i bought a product called gel2root which is simply some sealed plastic containers with some sort of gel in them. im assuming that theres the rooting hormone and some water in the container. it says on the packaging that no fertalizer or water was needed. anyone try this or something similar? did it work?
Ive seen similar stuff in a squeeze bottle that you just squeeze into dixie cups or something and place a cutting into it and put it under light, sometimes adding more gel if needed. Sounds like whatever you have should work. might as well test it out anyhow, you did buy it!
Funny I picked up a pack of those gel things - like pudding cups, when I did my first clones. Didn't work at all for me. Had them sitting in there over 2 weeks and not a single root development.
The second time around i just got some dixie cups and put my soil mix in there (pro-mix BX) and dipped cutting in rooting powder and voila, all of them survived and rooted.
