hey guys this is my first post on the soil board...i was growing hydrponically in the past. i think im going to switch to soil now though. for my growing medium i was going to use soil(of course) with some perlite....maybe like 80% soil to 20% perlite...i know what i'm going to do for lights and stuff...but does my medium sound good and what ferts should i use? i used some blue powder stuff from miracle grow one time before..i mixed it with water...and that stuff worked like a charm...anything that's better?

I think you can usually (unless stated otherwise on the bottle) use the same nutes for soil that you do for hydro. If you used cannabis-specific nutes in your hydro setup I would say continue with those instead of miracle grow.

no they werent cannabis-specific...i mean my grandma uses it for whatever it is she grows...but it worked VERY well...30% nitrogen 30% potassium and 15% phospate...not quite 30 30 30 but the best i had at the time...but for the soil....how much perlite to soil do i need? and are there any other things i need to put in the soil??

It's as complex as you want to make it, but remember that you get out what you put in. I would personally prefer organics like Earth Juice or foxfarm to Miracle grow, but in the end it IS made for plants, so it will work at least to some extent. You could also make your own soil totally from scratch if you really want to make it the best, but then it's up to you to research your ideal ingredients and ratios.
I think your perlite ratio sound pretty good to me, but there are some who would probably recommend more. Depends on how much drainage you want, plus how frequently you want to water them.

fox farm is good shit.
give happy frog a try too. theyre supposed to be good.
as far as the medium. i like to mix a few more things in my soil, but thats for outdoor.
my indoor pretty much consists of the same ingredients, i use quite a bit more than 20% perlite tho.
what kinda soil are you getting? pre fert? id go with straight organic and do all the fertalizing yourself.
it never hurts to experiment tho. maybe adding a little vermiculite, maybe adding some river stones in the bottom. little things here and there dont really make a to profound a difference, but some ppl swear by them!
