macs are nice, and they are overpriced, but if i could afford one, i'd get one. wish i had saved up and gotten a macbook(that can dual boot) instead of my dell laptop (but i got a killer discount because of an employee i know).
i actually prefer the Mac OS to Windows XP as well.

they run on the same basic hardware these days.
some PC manufacturers are just as expensive as Apple. Remember Alienware (now aquired by Dell but my point still exists)?
fuck loads more software... you can solve this problem: apples can dualboot = load more software than your PC (yes you can technically convert your PC to run Mac OS)
or bootcamp which loads windows inside of the mac os
really the only big difference these days between an apple and a pc is the preloaded operating system and the looks/design/features/ease of use (and generally macs are more expensive).
i'd rather have a macbook with Mac OS X AND Windows than just a Dell with Windows.

OSX Leopard is a far superior OS than Vista/XP in terms of stability, security, and performance. When it comes to software, there hasn't been one task I can't do on a Mac than I can on Windows. In fact, I can do MUCH more on a Mac, and faster, than on a PC. Thats saying a lot because I do a little bit of everything (web dev, linux admin, graphics)
I used to be a PC fanboy but saw the light recently.
I describe the experience as using coloring books my entire life and thinking they were awesome, then I saw some picasso/salvador dali or some shit and can never fuck with coloring books again because they are so fucking lame in comparison.

as someone who likes to build and tinker with computers I am more partial to the pc for it's upgrade capability. MAC is way more sexy tho.
