 Should you smoke around your plants?

My roommate recently purchased a 3 month old Purple Kush plant, and has decided he wants to start smoking with it- that is to say, sitting next to it and exhaling his hits directly on its leaves. I was skeptical as to whether or not this was a good idea, so I poked around online a little bit. It seems the general consensus is that though it is not necessarily bad for them, it is not good for them. I read somewhere that the tar and other stuff in the smoke can coat the leaves in a denuded resin, inhibiting their ability to photosynthesize.
Can someone here please settle our argument? Preferably with as much factual evidence as possible (he's a stubborn mutherfucker).

ash is good in soil.
thats different than smoke on leaves tho...
i smoke with my plants. it doesnt kill them.
just dont hotbox them

And I dont think it can hurt much if at all
but yeah dont hotbox em

go burn your trash in your grow room then, plenty of co2.
also marijuana is fairly good at absorbing odours which is why you don't cure weed in your sock drawer... or why you don't smoke in your grow room besides the fact that smoke isnt the best thing for any living creature.

the extra c02 won't hurt, but it won't really add anything either. seems like a pointless stoner ritual to me. the thing about coating the leaves with tar sounds plausible though, especially if he is blowing cig smoke at them lol

I wouldn't say coating with tar but marijuana is definately pourus and if anyone has been in a smokers car... you should be able to figure that one out.

Purple Kush eh? I heard that was a clone only strain. I would have grabbed some seeds otherwise. I hope it's legit though..
