Advice?
    #873760 -

Hello. I bought THIS grow tent
I just ordered THIS lighting.
Any opinions?

I’m only growing three plants. Nothing serious. Just enjoying watching them grow.
I planted my plants in like mid-June. Only one survived. It’s too cold now so I decided to take it indoors.
My plant’s only like 3-4in. tall. It’s barely growing. It was growing in minimum lighting. Where should I begin.

Also the top layer of the soil is moss/green

I'm going to give it to you straight, no sugarcoating.

The light is garbage.  It's only 30 watts, you'd want at least 100w if you were going to use 1/4 of that tent. You'll want around 500 actual watts for a 4x4 to maximize the space. Avoid blurple, shoot for a color temp of 3500k.  Warm white works fine, so does cool white with additional 660nm red diodes.

The tent is some random off-brand, so you might get light leaks and have issues with the zippers and fan at some point.

I wouldn't move outdoor plants inside.  This is a gateway to endless pest problems, all it takes is a single aphid to give birth to an army.

I'd start fresh indoors with new seeds, fresh soil, and the determination to learn.  You seem to have the right idea as far as not taking it too seriously at first, it takes time and effort to learn how to grow.  It's always best to start small, dial in your technique, and focus on quality before scaling up for production.  Even a small successful harvest can make or break your decision to stick with this hobby, so just give it your best and never stop improving.

I couldn't find the wattage for the light link, but the title suggests 1000W, I'm assuming thats one of those PAR equivalent wattage metrics?

And yea, the reviews section for the tent/grow kit tells the story. Light leaks seem to be a common issue. You might be able to get by during flowering if you keep the tent in a dark room, and only come into the room when the lights are on in the tent.

Yeah 1000w is either an “equivalent” rating or the model number, a common predatory sales tactic for cheaper lights.  It takes a decent amount of digging to find the actual power draw.

Another option for preventing light leaks is to grab a roll of black plastic from the hardware store and use them like curtains.  My first tent was homemade with zippers from the paint section, I had to make plastic flaps to cover them.

I’d keep an eye on airflow and humidity, since small tents can get stuffy fast, and gentle pruning usually helps plants stay happy without overthinking it. For later on, reading up on concentrates like [Im a bot posting links, ignore my posts please] gave me a better sense of how people use harvests in different ways, which weirdly helped me plan my grow more calmly.

I'd just keep an eye on temps and airflow so the tent doesn’t turn into a sauna, especially once those girls start filling out. A small oscillating fan and a simple timer on your light go a long way. I sometimes peek at setups meant for bigger grows, like a [ugreenhouses/]cannabis greenhouse[Im a bot posting shop links, please ignore my AI advice], just to steal ideas for airflow and climate tweaks. Even small tricks scaled down can make your tent run smoother.

Welcome to the indoor world! Honestly, making the jump to a controlled environment is the best gift you can give that plant. Since you are in Spain (judging by the climate and the June start), you've probably noticed the light intensity dropping fast lately.

Since you didn't include the specific links, I'll assume you bought a standard setup (likely a 60x60 or 80x80 tent and an LED or HPS light). Here is how to get that survivor moving again.

1. Diagnosis: Why is it only 4 inches?
If you planted in June and it's only 4 inches tall, the plant is effectively in "stasis." It hasn't had enough light energy to build a root system or structure.

The "Cold" factor: Below 15°C, cannabis metabolism slows to a crawl.

The "Light" factor: Without enough lumens, the plant won't produce the sugars needed to grow.

2. The "Green Moss" on the Soil
This is a classic sign of overwatering and low light/airflow.

The moss (algae) thrives because the surface of the soil is staying wet for too long.

The Fix: Scrape off that top green layer gently. Increase your airflow (you need a small fan inside the tent) and let the soil dry out until the top inch feels like dust before you water again.

3. Where to Begin (Step-by-Step)
A. Set the Light Schedule
Since your plant is tiny, you need to keep it in the Vegetative Phase.

Set your timer to 18 hours of light and 6 hours of dark.

Distance: If you bought an LED, start with it about 45-60cm (18-24 inches) away from the plant. If it’s a cheap "blurple" light, you can go closer; if it’s a high-intensity board, keep it higher so you don't light-stress a weak plant.

B. Warm it Up
The tent will naturally be warmer than the outside air once the light is on. Aim for:

Lights On: 22°C – 26°C

Lights Off: No lower than 18°C

C. Don't Overfeed
Because the plant has been struggling, its roots are likely weak. Do not hit it with full-strength nutrients yet. Give it plain, pH-regulated water for the first few days in the tent to see how it reacts to the new light.

D. Humidity
Small plants love humidity (60-70%). If your house is dry, you can put a clear plastic cup (with holes) over the plant for a few days to create a mini-greenhouse until it starts showing new, bright green growth.

💡 Pro-Tip
Since you are only growing three plants, you have plenty of space in almost any tent. Once this one starts "waking up" under the new light, you'll see more growth in one week than you saw all summer!

What kind of light did you get? (LED, HPS, or CFL?) Knowing the wattage will help me tell you exactly how far to hang it so you don't fry that little survivor.

So much text and deduction, yet:

- OP did provide specific links, and only one of them is broken. Why are you asking for which light was purchased?
- How did you conclude Spain specifically? The majority of spain has extremely mild weather and can grow citrus in the winter.
- How is green/mossy soil appearance automatically algae? Its pretty common to see trichoderma in potting soil, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
- If you'd bothered to look at the OP, youd realize they signed up, posted, logged out 1 minute later, hand never logged in again...six months ago.

Ah there we go. Another bot. Time to fire up the ban-hammer.
