Odd MMJ law in Ky

I just got my card in Ky and part of the process to get my MMJ card in Ky was to sign something saying I would not "smoke" medical cannabis in any form but that if I wanted to vaporize the flower or concentrates I am good to do that. Absolutely no packing a bowl or rolling a joint though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Below are the legal weights and mgs you are allowed to have in your possession:
Kentucky’s medical marijuana law defines a 30-day supply of medical cannabis to as:
112 grams of raw plant material 28 grams of concentrate, or 3,900 milligrams of THC-infused cannabis product such as edibles
You can't smoke it though. Vaping fuggetaboutit You can buy raw plant material meant to light and inhale ... you just aren't allowed to do that.
Anyway it just struck me odd because I had my green card in Colorado a LONG time ago and it was much easier. I took my recommendation into a dispensary, gave them care giver status over myself and then purchased some flower, edibles, and extracts. This was all in 2012 though so, a good while back. I'm justanoldman now.

Honestly I’d recommend investing in a good dry herb vape anyways. Less harsh, tastes better, doesn’t smell as bad, and is better for you. Still kind of odd to have that in the law though…

I had a similar thing happen and ended up switching strains—it made a big difference. Some phenos really do better in that setup than others. I’ve been using Releaf products lately too, and I’ve noticed they work well alongside my usual routine, especially keeping stress down on the plants when I mess with lighting or temps.

I came across this older discussion and wanted to add a question: has anyone heard if Kentucky plans to clarify what counts as “smoking” vs “vaping” in future updates? The rule feels oddly specific, and I’m curious if any doctors or dispensaries have given explanations or workarounds. Would be great to hear recent experiences from people renewing their cards.

Sounds like one of those rules that makes you stop and scratch your head, but at least vaporizing flower stays in the clear. I’ve had to get creative in similar situations, leaning on things like bulk CBN Isolate for non-smoking options that still help with sleep and mellowing out. Having alternatives on hand takes the edge off weird restrictions like that.
