Androcell’s auto grow winter 2025

Here we go again. Planning a short auto grow to hold me over until my summer photo grow.
I have AK47, Sour Diesel, and Super Skunk seeds in auto. Planning on planting two of each, one will be a cannabonsai and the other will just be a normal plant with some low stress training. I always wanted to keep bonsai trees but I’ve killed every single one I tried to keep, hopefully my cannabonsais have some better luck.

Trying something different from the paper towel method this time. Had a few seed failures with it, and saw on the Neptune Fish Fertilizer bottle that it can be used for germination.
One tsp fish fertilizer into 1 cup dechlorinated water, adjusted ph. Put two seeds in each shot glass and into darkness.

After around 48 hours soaking in fish water, some of the seeds are starting to crack open. I put all of the seeds in their solo cups with ocean forest soil and started a 16h light cycle.

So it has been a week and only 2 out of the 6 have sprouted. Last year I had a couple failures too with the paper towel method. But it wasn’t most of the batch like this failure. Not sure if it is the method or the source. The vendor has soaking the seeds for up to 72 hours in their instructions, so I followed that mainly to get their guarantee honored.
I started a few more seeds with the paper towel method. But before I try to get my money back, I’m also going to keep these cups going for a bit longer in case they are just slow growers.

IMO, you should limit the soak to around 12 hours, then plant. I've lost seeds letting them soak too long.
I'd also just soak in good drinking water, or a 1% hydrogen peroxide solution if you want to get fancy or have older seeds.
Lastly, some people have problems with ocean forest being too hot for seedlings, it seems their quality control is not great.

Good to know, I’ll try this for the next batch of seeds. How long does it usually take to sprout after a 12 hour soak?

Maybe 3-4 days? Typically less than a week but I've had some take longer if they are buried too deep and/or it's been cold. Also I haven't sprouted weed seeds in a few years, so my estimates might be a little off.
I always got super good germination rates with the 12 hour soak and plant though, I like to start them in peat plugs or coco/perlite in cell trays.

All of the paper towel seeds germinated within 24 hours, and a couple more seedlings sprouted. Perhaps the growth is just slow for some of the plants. Looks like I’ll have a few extras since I don’t want more than 6 plants at a time. I’ll most likely nurture the extras for a bit and give them away to friends
