Recommended beginner strains
    #853532 - 12/12/21 09:56 PM (2 years, 3 months ago)

In growing weed bible, I've found these strains recommended for beginners:

- Big Bud
- Top 44
- Northern Lights
- Skunk #1

What would be the easiest strain you ever grown outdoor?

Are those strains any good for a beginner?

The Cannabis Grow Bible is over 20 years old, those strains are all classics now. Most of those will be good strains for beginners.

For growing outdoors, it really depends on your local climate and latitude. Sativas take a long time to flower and need a long growing season to finish up. Indicas have shorter finishing times and are better suited to shorter grow seasons at higher latitudes, but can be smaller with more dense bud structures that can make them more prone to mold if your climate is very humid.

You are right about that book been old. I'm just trying to understand the basics by combining information from The Cannabis Grow Bible(2001) and Growing Elite Marijuana(2010).

Location is Canada, BC, so I was thinking on something that was tested locally here, like BC Big Bud or Northern Lights.

I would say that's probably a good call. :cool::thumbup:

I would do nl or skunk or even a cross of the two.

Big bud would not be on my list. Back in the late 90s there was a flood of "beasters" which was a generic term for commercially grown indoor cannabis from canada that was mostly big bud. Some of it was decent and it all looked good in a baggie but it lacked potency. People would call it fake bud cause it looked kind af but gram per gram didn't get you higher than seedy commercial weed. In fact some of the seedy commercial weed got you higher with a better high, the lime green jamacian, sticky thais or red hair mexican weed could really send you soaring :jah:

Thank you Sugabearcrisp!

Northern Lights would probably make a good choice.

I grew a nl x c99 cross that was real nice and very low odor, smelled like a tomato plant and produced citrusy cat turd sized nugs. I think I still have some seeds.

Spirit shadow check out peakseedbc, they been keeping nl straight since 2000 I think their skunkberry is probably the source of a newengland cut called skunkleberry that produces long colas of giggle weed that you can smell from the next room when someone opens a jar https://www.peakseedsbc.com/foundationalGenetics.html

Tomatoes.
If you can grow a tomato you can grow a pot plant.

My sister is sending me some tomato seeds for Christmas.  One newer variety called the Black Strawberry tomato, and a rare heirloom variety called the Giant Crimson tomato.

White Widow sounds like a good choice.

Have some friends trying to grow tomato, but without a long sunny summer, results aren't that great or tasty.

Bwahaha I tried Seedsman and Dinafem, I thought seedsman's was better. Regardless of authenticity or whatever it was still super noob friendly and had good potency. What's your beginner strain recommendation  stoneth??

Nirvana seeds has many beginner friendly strains. If low smell is wanted NL is great most of the time. If smell isn't an issue I always loved their Ice
