So looks like we'll be getting a new tax on medical cannabis. When that initiative goes into effect on 01/01/2018. That really blows. Most shops usually pick up the sales tax that's already implemented. I personally feel medical should be exempt from the "exercise tax". And with taxes (rec) apparently being as high as 45% in some areas. People will stick with their dealer, use medical, or take on growing themselves.
Quote: Ottawa proposing legal weed tax of at least $1 per gram, plus GST/HST
The plan would add an excise tax of $1 per gram of marijuana or 10 per cent of the final retail price, whichever is higher, with the revenues to be divided equally between Ottawa and the provinces and territories.
45% taxes in California and 10% taxes in Canada for cannabis. Normally Canadians are taxed at a higher rate then Americans. At least we can both grow our own. Cheers.

I'm almost positive you're gonna need a license to grow at home to.
My sales are going underground.

But I can see why you're leaving the market. I would too if i started loosing that much money to that ridiculously high tax. No pun intended. So is this a mutual feeling among other growers Mag? Im guessing the really large ones (harborside comes to mind) can afford it.
