We need a light calculator or lighting spreadsheet. something where you. input the dimensions of the room. input the type of lighting and wattage. and it spits out a number of light needed for the room space.
Very easy calc. LXW =unit squared. Minus any unused space for rows. Then simply times your footprint by how many lumens or watts per square unit foot or meter you want. Bam total needed watts or lumens. Then simply divide by 1000w or 600w or lumens or par or whatever by your total and tgats how many lights u meed
General rule of thumb and can research more or ask others input. But want min 55watts per square foot to around 100watts per sq foot. Better way would be lumens or par per sq foot but that from what i recall is the general rule.
You said u set up other grows. What wattage per sq foot did those have and was it not quite enough?
Again if using feet lengthxwidth=sqfoot > sqfootxwatts/sqfoot= total watts >totalwatts/watts of fixture equals number of lights needed.
I usually try and go with 1000w per 6x6 sqst. I have only really done mostly tents with mylar I really like the reflective surface but the room I am trying to set the person does not want to spring for the mylar walls so we are just going to have to go with a bright reflective white paint for the walls. In my opinion the mylar would pay for itself in time but they are having the entire room painted with a sealer to keep water out the walls and subfloor.
Well 6x6 is 36sq ft so thats 28watts per sq foot. Which is maybe why people complained didnt harvest enough.
Some say need 50 but over isnt needed. Really depends on what type of plants.big 2 plus feet of growth ie budsites and leaves or flowering out 7 inch clones finishing maybe triple that in which case less wattage/lumens is fine.
Here is u scroll down it confirms what inwas sayin want at least 50 and around 70 80 is optimal
