 Dog had a seizure last night

So about 12:30 last night my 10 yr old German Shepherd had a seizure. Lasted about 30 minutes. This is the first time she has ever had one to my knowledge. She also managed to get a bloody nose. I'm guessing she busted it on the floor during the seizure. Took her to the vet and they took some blood and gave her some potassium bromide. I'm wondering if CBD oil will help her assuming she has another episode. I feel so bad for her. And it was hell trying to get her onto the truck bed. She has some leg issues. Forgot what its called but it's the ALS equivalent for dogs. Whenever enough pressure is applied to the bad leg she barks and growls which is very unusual for her.

That's fucked up, i'm sorry to hear that. I like dogs more than people. My oldest dog is 6, about half her life is already over. All the dogs I grew up with have been put down already. I hope your get at least another couple good years with your shepard.

Look around make sure she didn't eat something she shouldn't have. Have you given her any new dog food or dog treats. Clean the house with any new cleaners. Any plants she could have eaten on a walk or something. Candy laying around. Access to a garbage can.
Just a few things to check.

There's really nothing in the yard she could of eaten. And she has been on the same food for about 4 weeks. Im leaning towards it being a brain tumor. The vet said that considering her age it's a possibility.

The local club is selling 250mg of THC cannabis oil for $40. They are also selling CBN concentrated oil for $50.

maybe a combo of cbd and one of the others. The CBD says anti epileptic, and the other two both say antispasmatic.

Dam bud sorry to hear about your dog . I have 4 and I treat them like my kids I don't know what I'm going to do when they get old

So I just saw a video saying xylitol is 100x more toxic to dogs than chocolate.
The video claimed it can cause seizures and a host of other problems.
Had no idea, just a FYI for our fellow pet owners.

Well its been over a week since her seizure and she hasn't had one since. Gonna get her some of that THC tincture sometime next week. Just gonna start out very small and work our way up till we find that spot.

Hey DK I assume you did some more research since this thread, can you recommend something from the dispensary to aid with seizures? It turns out one of my dogs (3.5 yrs) might be epileptic, Saturday night he had a seizure just after midnight, then another 21 hours later. I set up an apt for yesterday afternoon but around 10:20 he started having back to back siezures. he had 12 total by the time I got him to the emergency clinic. (30 mins away, had 3 on the way there)
They are thinking because of his age it's most likely epilepsy but are testing for valley fever as well. He's on phenobarbital atm but all the pharmaceuticals that can enhance the pheno such as gabapentin are hard on the liver/kidneys.

Sorry to hear about that. They have some CBD tinctures on the market. I never used the CBD because the potassium bromide seemed to keep the seizures at bay.
Hope your pup recovers from that.

thanks guys i forgot cbd was legal, i was going to have my dad get something from the dispo but i just ordered some, will start him on a regular treatment combined with the barbiturates
