I've seen people plant 5 year old seeds with no issue, if they were stored in an air tight container in the freezer I could seed them being viable after 15 years, but just in your closet? I'm surprised even one germinated, I don't have a germination method that will help, but hopefully someone will chime in.

Remember sham wow clothes? I germ with cloth similar to those. It holds water better than paper towel and doesn't smother them because it holds air as well, it's not just a waterlogged napkin. The I put it in a small Tupperware dish with a lid and put it on a heat mat. Seeds looooove bottom heat!

If the seeds are really old and I'm scarred they may go moldy during germination, I do a one minute rinse with diluted hydrogen peroxide. One part H2O2(%3) and four parts distilled water.

With really old seeds they can benefit from a 24-48 hour soak in distilled water kept warm with bottom heat. The water needs to be changed every 12 hours if you do this to keep as high a level of dissolved oxygen as possible so the seeds don't drown.

Good luck :happyweed:

Thanks you Two

Must of been feeling your vibes today as I didn't see this post till now.
so
I chucked out all but the one
put that guy on a new towel in tupperware and put that ontop of the fridge for warmth

(felt that would help)

~ its not directly ontop but i've got a box thing going on that i used to grow out mycelium during the winter months..
this old apartment sucks and the fridge was the only constant (warm)temps
~

Now that you mention it Zombi3 I did score a heat pad the other day from the Will

Serendipity!!

+ i got few of those towels around here too/ never though of using them - makes sense tho

I also pondered today about soaking them first..

My question is that I soak for that time /way you mentioned and then..?.

-  to towel/ cloth??
or
- right to dirt??

Thanks Again

check it

they span a few years but still itsa long  Long tome ago in a galaxy....

Peace

I used to always throw them in a glass of water until they start sprouting.

After a 24-48 hour soak you can plant em straight in soil. Or on a wet towel until you see the radical emerge. The soak is just to get em happy plump

even throw a few in dirt and put pots on my heat pad

+ i'll leave some in the water changing it everyday to see what happens

~ That one is still fighting..

what a trooper

but it might be time to  :whiteflag:

and bury it...

but it still may grow so don't get too down

Thanks again
