I've had my car for 8 years, and in that time, I've spent a lot of money on it.
I love the car, but the passion is gone.
So, this is what's going on with the car:
rebuilt engine with 70K miles
Just spent 1K on repairs
Costs me around ~2K in repairs per year
There's a huge problem, however... The body is totally rusted out.
My mechanic just called me and said he can get a guy to fix it for ~3K.
I'm sick of this car and I think I'm going to get rid of it.
My inspection sticker is going to expire in the fall, and I think I'm only going
to keep it until then.
So what would you do?
Dump the car and get something else?
If so, should I go used or new?
If I go used, how much should I spend? ~5K? I need something reliable.
So, the choices are essentially fix the car I have now, get a used car, or buy new.
I doubt I'd buy new; I'm saving for a place of my own and that would be too much of a hit.
Also, I hate buying things on credit. I'm a pay all or nothing type of guy.
Oh, and one more thing... Is there any sort of military range I could go to or some
sort of service that would allow me to fire an RPG at my car if I do decide to get another
one?

-sell the car for what u can get for it.... Fuck rusty cars ( You're too pimp for that shit)
-buy used. fuck leasing or paying payments forever
-If u want a good (cheaper) car that will last, get something foreign (like a honda or some shit)

That car is bleeding you man. Buy something used that's 3-5 years old and solid.
New cars are for people who finance their entire lives or those who like to blow money on depreciation.

Yeah, good advice; I think I'm going this route.
I'm thinking a silver Toyota would be best, it'll get the  off my ass. 
It'll be nice to blend in after sticking out for so long.

I got a steal when I bought my 95' pathy. Paid 1500 with a solid body and only 167,000. I have since replaced the motor. So I should get another 10 years easily as long as I maintain it properly.

I just buy $2000 hoopties every 4 years or so. I really don't drive much (work and back daily is only like 18 miles round) and I don't like cars much anyway.
My most recent one is an '89 Oldsmobile haha it only has like 70k miles tho, some old lady never drove it. I just replaced the audio in it and I can't complain. I've done new tires and had to replace the tensioner or some shit for the belt because it squealed like a pig when I drove it. Otherwise it's holding up.
If gas keeps being so cheap I'll probably get a nice fat ol caddy next. Something tells me this Olds is gonna go forever tho.
