Light cycle, flip to flower poll.
    #802642 -

When going from 18 hrs of light to 12 hours of light, do you just cut your lights down six hours on one end, take three hours off of both ends, or gradually reduce lighting?
How do you adjust your light cycle to transition into the flower period.
You may choose only one

I veg for 14 hours then go to 12
if I'm inconsistent with the lighting schedule it will sometimes just go into flower itself
both time's I've worked with about a foot of plant after 2 months. I actually have a mark that tells me when to top it before flower
I don't think it's neccesary to veg it for more then 16 hours, the plant does most of it's visible growth at night, which is the best time to water it, during the day it's just storing sugars.
If I had to guess I'd knock an hour off every few days, the plant isn't actively switching to flower or doing anything that's just the way she goes.

Its enough stuff we gotta worry about already, lets not over complicate shit. Dont get me wrong i was reading a hightimes article where sum bigtime greenhouse in cali or colo was gradually switching from veg to bloom over a period of time, but they also had a giant million dollar greenhouse too besides....do u really wanna take hightimes advice ALL THE TIME?

At the moment I have two rooms one for flowering and one for vegetative purposes (mothers and clones). 4k each and are on a flip flop and I have an additional bulb to fill in another 2 hours. This is all I need to keep the  current plants I'm growing under vegetative conditions. The reason why I'm using this photoperiod is to have a realistic idea of the phenotypic expression in the Canadian outdoors and we don't have any 18 hours of direct sunlight here.

Sun up in one room is 12 hours after sun up in the other room. Sun down in the veg room is 14 hours after sun up. I haven't found any plants that are so photosensitive that they don't quickly adapt to a change in daily photoperiod. Ie. So long as they transition from vegetative hours, to darkness (even 6 hours), to flowering hours there's been no detriment to the plants that I've seen in my gardens. ^ Such is how I normally transition my plants.

If you give the plants less light time the buds will finish a little faster but with a reduction in yield.

^

You're also going to have phenotypes that you just wouldn't see under a 12/12 light cycle too. I mess around with the photoperiod to give myself an idea of how quickly plants will flower outdoors.
