Generally a soft white 26 watt CFL per fruiting chamber is used.

lol ya.
But to answer the original question: Mushrooms ONLY need light to know which way is UP. You can use window light. There is no light regimen of 12/12 involved. The stronger the light, means nothing. Spectrums mean noting. Good Luck
shroomery.org will be able to help you from start to finish. We can too but that place is the place to be when someone wants to cultivate shrooms start-finish.
Good Luck mate

it would be cool if "the stronger the light, the bigger the mushrooms"

I just always left mine in a room with room-darkening curtains and they did fine. Never bothered lighting, so I imagine a single CFL would be more than sufficient.

But if you are just growing a couple tubs or sgfc you can use your window blinds and let sunlight do it naturally. That's the way I do it now.

I used a single double bulb t5 fixture, and was cranking out 10 tubs at a time. Mushrooms just need the cycle they don't care that much about light.

This, and I use 2 100 watt bulbs.
Got me this from 4 medium sized, short tubs:
Actually I got a little more; what's pictured there weighs 1 lb dry.

I have always noticed better fruits with lots of natural light compared to less light .those t5s would be a good idea but I'm going to compare prices with some compact cfl fixtures before I deside what to do I think .
