Slugs & Snails

Hello, I was wondering how many of you have had problems with these awful hermaphrodite creatures. I kinda have this problem now, I'm not sure though, because I haven't seen my plants in a week or so (but I heard from a fellow of mine who said my plants are growing really fast (like 20-30cms in 5 days and they are now half a meter and around 20-25 days old). Anyway, I've noticed before leaving that there was a lot of them (snails) so I was picking them and throwing away, far away, but I bet they are eating my plants while we speak. The essential question - does coffee grounds work? I've heard that these creautres really like them and when they eat it, they get heart atack and simply die.

They sell slug bait, just make a line around your plants.  Not difficult

Anywway, I've put the coffee grounds all around the plant, checked it next day and saw many slugs and snails dead. Works!

I had snails reduce a couple of my outdoor babies to sticks in the ground earlier in the season...

It seems like you have already gotten some good answers.
Slug bait is of course a given, but if you want to go free and organic I suggest Coffee grounds like several other people have, but also try some egg shells just crumble them up and either boil them or bake them on a cookie sheet for a few minutes. Slugs and snails hate to crawl across them. As an added bonus the Grounds are a nice nitrogen supplement, and the eggshells may give you some bonus Calcium.
