Pro/Science Tip: Put fresh, unrooted clones in complete darkness for 2-3 days.

Keeping light on it when trying to get it to root, makes the plant think it has roots.
In theory, your taking a plant back to seed stage, making it shoot out a root for nutes.

this was posted in my journal on shroomery and Ive been cloning for almost 3 years and have never heard it b4 now...

does anybody do this?  :smirk:

Ive read darkness for the first 24 hours...maybe it helps but its obviously not necessary. Ive never done it with my aero-cloner but I used to when I cloned in soil/coco...

Interesting.
I always thought it was reasonably bright light that made them do well.

I read it's because you want the cutting to focus on root development rather than vegetation.  I give mine light anyways lol.

It's a load of shit. The only thing your gonna do by doing that is give a new cutting light stress.

The only way to make a plant think it's going back to the seedling stage (a process called reverting) is to put it into flowering and then putting it back into a vegetative light cycle. The plant will then go from 7 blade leaves to 5 then to 3 then to 1 and then start increasing the blade number on the leaves again. The process takes 3 to 4 weeks.

I used a light to heat the top soil actually with day/night cycles cuz I figured the root would go downward torwards dark and damp in verm

using a completely different light for growing tho

Dark cycles in clones cause premature flowering.
