Tired of the fungus gnats, switching to soiless
    #724239 -

I got bored with shrooms and have a ton of coir so I decided to switch to hydro. Is just coir and perlite ok or should I throw in some vermiculite too? When should I start adding nutes if growing from clones? I've read a lot of conflicting opinions on both.

Yea mushrooms are surprisingly un recreational.

I'm far from any sort of expert, but it seems you can use any of those mediums for growing as long the PH isn't too far off. I personally would mix the 3 so it's 2 parts coir 1 part perlite 1 part vermiculite maybe. I'm not sure this would solve your gnat problem though.

It's my understanding that you don't want to add any nutes until transplant.

You'll need to treat that brick coco before you can use it. It has something to do with Ca/Mg and the way it releases nutrients, but you'll get shitty results if you just toss the stuff in brick coco.

Coco has nothing, so you need to feed from the start really. You'll notice them dying for nutrients pretty early on. I like using Humboldt Nutrients' Verde as a foliar spray to get them that first bit of green that they need.

Treat it how? I did a thorough rinse to remove the salts, should I sterilize it as well?

They make special treatments for it, Canna used to make one, cant find it on their website, but there are a few other brands, essentially Ca/Mg with maybe something else.

I've only ever used the bagged ready to use coco, but gen hydro has the basics.

I have a bottle of cal/mag and planned on using it with ro water, hopefully that will suffice.

One more question...if growing in 18oz solo cups, how long should I let my white widow clones go before switching to flower? Is there a certain amount of time or height?
