Mycelium C02 bag question.
    #720549 - 03/10/14 08:35 PM (10 years, 20 days ago)

i think that Exhale Homegrown CO2 Generator would be great for my setup. basically a mycobag with a unspecified fungus inside. Now although i am a noob to the world of green, i am a vet in mushroom cultivation. im wondering if anyone has ever done a successful grain transfer? id say grain TO grain but i dont know what substrate is in the bag. does this mycelium take to grain or other substrates? basically i wont to skip paying $33 a bag if i can help it. thanks

Well I can tell you right now that they do not put out enough co2 to really boost your growth.  So it isn't even worth the 33 bucks to begin with.

it also says to place them above the plants. how the fuck am I supposed to do that in a tent? I mean I know how but it will be unpractical. well that's disappointing

You may want to put this in a fungi forum.

I have some kind of a similar idea.. to build a cabinet for mushrooms and plants combined, but separate "chambers" so humidity, air flow, temp. etc can be controlled. The main idea behind is almost the same.. to combine compatible needs of them both. The main problem that I see is, mushrooms probably don't produce/use enough gas, or am I wrong about that?

I'll make a journal about a build soon, if anyone is interested.

They don't produce enough co2 for it to benefit the plants.  Marijuana uses a shit ton of co2 when growing.

yeah id be interested in a journal. i bet the filter patch is whats holding it back. it doesnt let THAT much gas exchange. those bags may be small also.

I don't see why it couldn't balance out.

Respiration:
C6O6H12 + O2 + H2O --> CO2 + H2O

Photosynthesis:
CO2 + H2O --> C6O6H12 + O2

You just need to make sure that you balance the rates of reaction: that's the tricky part!

Sure, if you got enough of it going in there.  But it would have to be a shit ton of mycellium in there to get it to a state where they will actually benefit the plant.

Yeah dude I was just asking around about this. But apparently these don't produce enough CO2? Laughable and negligible amounts? They are def not worth 30 bucks but If i could make them for the $2 for supplies it'd cost me I'd like to use this CO2 supplement instead of some ghetto ass Yeast and sugar water. If you guys don't think it's still worth that then what's the next best way to get CO2 for just a small 5 plant closet grow? I don't want to spend a whole lot of extra money on this stuff just quite yet. I don't have enough space to take growing weed that serious. It's just a hobby to try to get some extra bud and learn a little at a time.
