Buying a used EC/TDS meter?
    #713998 - 02/10/14 05:44 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

I am unfamiliar with such devices but I thought it would be a good idea to have if making colloidal silver. I saw one on craigslist for a fair price for being used.

So would you guys buy one or am I better off buying a new one?

It's a Milwaukee instruments brand if that matters.

Also I noticed there are different types of calibration bags. i.e. 800 ppm, 1382 ppm, etc. Does it matter which one I use?

I wouldn't buy a used milwaukee.  And you need to refer to the user manual to know which calibration solution to use.

Agreed. I wouldn't buy one if it were brand new.....Milwaukees fucking suck.

Deadkndys you're much better off buying a new meter. Blue pen, nutridip and oakton are all good companys to consider....all 3 have solid warrantys.

I've owned a ton of meters since the 90s and by far these are the best. Never needs calibrating or any care other then batteries.

Dont get a used one. They are too sensitive to trust second hand. I made that mistake. Just but a new one or use test solution.

I'd recommend a blue lab truncheon too. I have a combo meter and never had a single issue with it. The pH probe on it sucks though I've been through three.
