Autoflowering?

I'm very new to this and was considering purchasing my first seeds from an online vendor. My only question is... what does auto-flowering mean? And, whilst I know it's not ideal, can a plant be successfully grown inside (during winter) using a heat-mat for warmth and basic fluorescent lighting... say... four tubes worth?

An autoflower is a type of cannabis plant that flowers when it is mature as oppose to flowering when the light schedule changes.

And floros suck. They CAN grow product, and some okay bud. But it's a much better idea to buy a couple books on growing, like this one
http://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Horticulture-Outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X
And start researching thoroughly before you start into this hobby. There's a whole lot more to it than just keeping them warm and giving em light.

If you are going to veg with CFL's, I would highly recommend having around 250 equivalent watts for no more than 3 girls. And a 150W HPS would be perfect for flowering. Make sure your CFL's are at 6500k spectrum for veg, If you use CFL's during flower, use 2700k spectrum. In the future however, an upgrade of a 150w HPS would be highly beneficial. I run 22,000 lumens in a 2 1/2 X 2 1/2 X 4 and have just enough to keep proper vegetative growth. My next grow however, I will be switching to a 150W HPS for flowering. I ran CFL's through flowering on the test run, which is yielding low but still quality bud. A great flowering CFL you can get is a 60w 300w-eq puts out 3900 lumens and 3 or 4 of those will do the job along with some smaller 23w or 32w cfl's. But remember, lumens is nothing, spectrum is everything. Cheers mate,

This was a full CFL grow I am doing right now, unfortunately lost 2 of them to an unfortunate idiot accident, never topped or anything also. Bagseed as well, was just testing my new cab. https://www.growery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/706482
