Mirco Cube grow Update 1/23/14
    #701735 - 12/23/13 05:09 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

So I made an new LC and needed to test it so instead of mixing it in with my other grain jars I decided to do a little mushie grow. I used a half pint of WBS noc'd it with either PESA or PESH, I forgot to label the jar .  I also mixed in some coir and verm inside a Tupperware container.

My FC is just some small storage totes with some perlite.

Just got the first flush from my mini I whipped up to get rid of a spawn jar. Never seen such unhappy cubes.

There are no ventilation holes in your fruiting chamber. Further, if you don't keep the lid on, the humidity won't stay high enough for the fruits to be happy. That said, if you do put the lid on, but still don't have any holes, the Co2 will build up, thus preventing any decent pins forming. Or, if they do form, they won't do very well. The key to indoor mushroom cultivation (when it comes to the fruiting chamber) is lots of good air circulation and high humidity (95% if you can manage it).

Also (keep in mind I'm no expert), that mycelium you have growing there doesn't look right to me... not ropey enough. It might be a good idea to post that picture over at the shroomery and see what the saints of spore have to say about it.

We didn't have ventilation holes but we fanned it often and it still workd fine...but you do need a lid. We had a clear lid and a plant light, we never had any problems.

I know this I was too lazy too make a sgfc so I am doing it the old fashioned way by fanning when I can remember.(with the lid on..)

It is not as "rhizomorphic" but that could be from genetics or the C02 levels are are were too high since I took that pic right after taking the lid of from colonization.

Keep in mind this grow was just for shits and giggles. I am doing a real grow in two weeks or so.

Thanks for your input though.

Standard mix of coir, verm, gypsum and coffee grounds. stated growing en vitro fruits since I wasnt trying hard to keep it in perfect dark. And left it alone in natural ambient light through Christmas vacation. Take note kids your mushrooms will practically grow themselves.

You know i have found that the gypsum isn't completely necessary with cubes. From my understanding gypsum is best used with gourmet edibles. Will not having gypsum in your mix cause a 'dulling' in potency?

Could of been the coffee imo. I never had good luck with using grounds. Next time I do plan on soaking my grains in coffee RR claims this is better then using grounds.

Yeah, i usually see that kind of growth after 4 or five days. I have never worked with PESH or PESA, how aggressive are they in colonization, and in your experience, how do the do for fruiting?

Well I have gotten monsters and also small to medium fruits from both.

ime the PESH is more aggressive then PESA and also a little faster as well.

Here is pic of my last PESA monotub grow.
I got 7 ounces from two flushes.

Also got a mutant as well.

7 ounces is great from a tub  what size mono tub and what was your substrate depth that time, out of curiosity?

if you are looking for a vivid experience with a little more dry weight, you should look into Koh Samui Super strain. i may or may not have had a tub produce 8 ounces in one flush  the strain is extremely aggressive and is a prolific fruiter. I didn't use gypsum at all.

Very well could be. It was basically mixed and left alone. Going to build a hood and just start with a new print. Also been running Wollongong and they consistently seem to grow big and awkward.
