Molasses
    #681673 - 08/16/13 10:44 PM (3 years, 3 months ago)

There doesn't seem to be any concrete info on whether or not this stuff has any solid benefits, please, anyone here who wants to share their experiences, there needs to be some more definitive knowledge on that matter of molasses and its effect on cannabis plants.

The more details the better.

Search for blackstrap

I swear everytime i finish explaining about molasses and how i use it...a new thread pops up asking the same question

Its a sweetener made from sugar cane.

Botanicare reccomends using it during final weeks of flowering but you can use it through all flowering.

In small doses it can be used during veg as well, some veg nutes have molasses added (roots organics buddah grow)

It is magnesium sulfate but do not use it as magnesium supplement

Microbes and bacterias feed on sugars excreted by plants and form a symbiotic relationship with the plant. Molasses feeds the soil, encouraging healthy, active soil microbes.

In a nutshell, it has many uses but it is going to really shine when used as a sweetener during flowering. When it comes to all the different flavored sweeteners...i dont think anything is as sweet as pure sugar cane.

You can also use it in compost teas.

And last note...this is FOR SOIL ONLY! DO NOT PUT MOLASSES IN A RECIRCULATING HYDRO SYSTEM; YOU WILL KILL YOUR PLANTS AND DAMAGE YOUR SYSTEM!!

I've been using it at 2 tbsp per gallon every watering after the plant is around 6 inches tall.

I'm finally getting my ph and watering schedule down and they are looking really nice now.

I think it is a great benefit to the microbes in your soil and have heard it may also contain microbes plus some micronutrients.

When I use it on my vegetable garden the tomato stems even get a sticky feel to them. My collard green stems did the same. The fruits are much more flavorful too

I use the grandma's unsulfured molasses, its about 8 bucks for a liter or so of it, found in many grocery stores here in cali.

The botanicare one has an MSRP of $16 for a GALLON.

If you have a hydro store in your area you should check it out.

Its unsulfured and organic and even though its a supplement for plants ive heard you can make food with it because its just like the molasses in your grocery store.
