Hydro vs soiless nute strenth
    #677780 - 07/12/13 06:57 PM (10 years, 8 months ago)

Can anyone help me understand why soiless drain to waste systems require softer nute percent than recirc system like dwc or ebb.? I understand a little science so dont hold back. GH recommends strengths up to 3x that of drain to waste soiless. weird to me but im missing something. i understand lockout a little and im assuming that it has to do with pH and lockout and availability but how does it not burn? is it time in contact with roots?

I've done drain to waste and didn't increase the strength like what your saying. I haven't even heard of that till know. I used the same as I do with any-other system and they were just fine.

Maybe it's recommended as a precaution to reduce costs from loosing the run off.

I would just make full strength and collect the run off, and use a single batch per feeding.
