You take a tool, dig a hole, bury the root mass, water it. That's about it!

Not at all.  There area a lot of ways to prep the soil beds. If you haven't purchased any literature yet, I would look into Jorge Cervantes.  He has a number of books.  A few of which definitely go into ground preparation.

I'm sure you could even download them from pirate bay or some shit.

Well how large do you want your plant to be?

If you use a 3 foot by 3 foot hole with good  soil expect a monster plant.

Well for how many bags of soil, you would just need to do the math.  They say how much soil is in a bag, then determine how big of a whole you want, then figure it out.  These are thing that you should be learning when reading up and doing searches.  Not trying to be a dick, but this type of thing is all over the place and half common sense with a little spatial reasoning.

Now there are more complicated area compost and additives and what not to adding into your soil.

Like I said, buy some books.

Im general you want the hole at least 2x the size of the container the plant is it. Twice as wide, twice as deep. If your soil is hard like mine it helps to loosen up the sides with a claw or some other tool, especially if the shovel makes slick hard walls that the roots wont penetrate.

As far as additives and how many bags of soil to put...i dont roll that way. If im gonna use bagged soil i would just put it in a container. The only reason id be planting in ground would be if its good soil already and i plan on having the roots go into the earth soil.

If youre gonna plant in ground, you improve the soil months before planting...think old school farm crop rotation. The better it is from the start the less fertilzers you add later. As far as how to improve your soil before hand...like everyone else said...buy some books or google it.

Forgot to mention...if you have super hard super shitty soil, especially with slick walls, and then fill a hole with something like ffof, the plant will get rootbound because once it reaches the edge it would rather stay in the loose bagged soil than penetrate into the earth. Might not be an issue where you live but here our soils almost pure clay so a hole dug in unprepared soil is essentially in a clay pot the size of the hole.
