 Outdoor Grow & Risk of Frost

I have a few plants outdoors about 2 ft high that recently were moved from a green house.
They are out in the fields, but I see that Tuesday in my region we are suppose to have a frost of -1 Celsius.
What is the best way to cover them?
I was thinking I could take a couple of plastic garbage bins and cover them or throw a blanket over them.
Problem is that I wont be able to return for a couple of days.
Will it set them back going a couple days without light if I was to cover them with a plastic pale?

Well its easy for me to say from my arm chair...but they should be fine. Frost can slow down a flowering plant but it usually takes a hard freeze or quite a few consecutive frosts to kill a reefer plant

I talked to a few people who are growers....and it appears that weed plants can handle a bit of frost with no problem.
So i am not going to bother to cover them for that one night when it might drop to -1 C
|

Sweet I just found out its going to get down to 35 on sunday and 38 on monday! I hope all my hard work doesnt get killed

Well my paranoia got the best of me so this is what I did.  
I cut the bottom off and put them over the plant and took the cap off the top. What you guys think??

LOL I put it in my previous post that i cut the bottom off the mike jugs and put them over them and took the lids off!

Do the plants you cover with jugs touch the plastic? I heard that the plastic can actually get colder then the air and could cause damage if they are touching. I don't know how accurate that is though and have never tried it myself.
This is what I've heard
"Plastic seems like a good idea for frost protection, but it's just too thin to provide any insulation to plants. Since frost forms when leaf temperatures dip, simply covering the plant isn't going to be enough to protect it -- the trick is to use an insulated covering to capture heat that's radiating from the ground. Plastic that touches plants is even worse than no protection in many cases, since it can hold moisture against plant tissues and cause more serious freeze damage. However, when used as a row cover or placed directly on the ground around a plant, plastic can be an effective tool in the battle against frost"
Better Coverings
In general, you should toss plastic covers out of your emergency plant supply closet, but thick bedspreads, cardboard boxes and heavy curtains are still winners. Just ensure that when you cover your plant, the cover reaches the ground, trapping warm air under the plant's canopy. The better the cover does this, the safer your plant will be from frost. In areas where frost is frequent and unpredictable, gardeners often erect tall stakes or forms around their frost-sensitive plants so they can drape their covers over the plants and secure them without worrying about the coverings bunching or blowing away in the night.

I think plastic can still work decently to keep some warmth in and protect from cool winds, just as long as it isn't touching
