Shit can?
    #666143 - 04/15/13 11:10 AM (10 years, 11 months ago)

Hey guys,

Can stress this early on cause herming during veg or cause more probability of herm during flower?

I think what happened was a combination of, being over watered, to much air current, low humidity, fungus gnat infestation, not diluted enough molasses left on leaves, maybe the 1 tbsp molasses to 8 fl oz poured onto the root zone wasn't good either, and maybe the T5ho's being about 1 inch from the leaves during all of this.

Should I just replace them with these less stressed plants? I'll take care of them better this time hehe

They are recovering, day by day I notice the leaves becoming darker and I notice new growth slowly coming back to them. I think I've got the environment figured out now anyway hehe

if you can fix your issues ( or if they are fixed ) and keep vegging them you'll probably be fine.  But having them stressed as balls and them flipping the light schedule and beginning bloom phase while still stressed as balls, may produce balls.

Ok good to hear so the main worry is stress during flowering phase or if the plant is stressed entering flowering? I guess I'll hold out on replacing them then and see if they start looking pretty again.

Thank you!

Yeah, pretty much.

Stress during veg is still bad but it can be reversed with more veg.

Thank you

I did water them about a 4-5 days before all the things posted in OP occured, with a half gallon of water, split between them, that had 1 tsp of espoma dolomite lime sitting in it for a week and a half. I've heard it takes a while for that stuff to break down but it went from pellets to dissolved powder quickly and my water was completely lime colored. I guess that could have lead to the slow decline. Maybe my last watering helped flush it; my last watering was 1 gallon split between them and it sat in the trays for a while, at least 20minutes. Maybe thats why they now look to be recovering.

Hmm I wonder if I should order a ph kit and just start over with the girls I have outside. This time I wont add any lime

Don't start over, but YES, get a fucking pH kit.  That should have happened already man.  What's the medium?  What kind of nutrients are they getting?  Why are you foliar feeding with molasses?  Just feed that straight to the roots.

And the ones outside look like they are already flowering.

haha sorry, I will order a ph kit now. I've been procrastinating

My retarded logic behind the molasses was I had just watered each plant and forgot to put molasses in the water. So I decided to make a 2 cup 2 tbsp. mixture and add to the plants afterwards. I didn't lift my lights up very high and was trying to get the liquid around the base of the stem mostly but since I'm lsted, I was just pouring it over the canopy. I misted afterwards to try to clean the leaves but it wasn't enough to get it all off.

My medium is kellogs patio organic plus I haven't begun to feed yet. I probably should with the next watering. They've been in those pots for nearly a month now, they've been delayed a few times throughout their lives though.

Oh yeah those outdoors are definitely flowering. They've been out there since the beginning of march. Will they just go back into veg here soon when they days get longer? Is that stressful for them?

Yeah they would revert to veg, not necessarily stressful per se, but not the most ideal situation.

I'd say they're needing some nutes.  I personally like Botanicaire.

Cool, I've read a lot of great things about that brand. I think I'll give it a try after this BMO fert.

I'll give them a feed in the next couple days as the soil dries. Also have my ph strips otw, time to get serious.

Thanks for always being around!  :willynilly:

2 cup 2 tbsp???

Damn thats a thick mixture there. Sugar overloaddddddd.:awesome:

I doubt thats the cause of stress though.

I know haha. I'll stop using that logic and make sure things are properly diluted.

I'm starting to think that it may have been due to my experimentations with dolomite lime pellets dissolved in water. I did it twice, where I left the lime sitting in the water for a while and then split it between plants. They were looking really nice until the week long decline after my last lime water. But that's when I was playing with the environment too so it's hard for me to say if that was the cause; since I'm a complete newb. If it ain't broke don't fix it :willynilly:

Why would you use dolomite water?

And did you check the ph of that water? Prolly the cause of stress right there.

I thought maybe it could keep my water buffered since I wasn't testing. Now I know not to do that lol. I've got some strips otw.

Do you think it made the soil ph way off or poisoned in a different way?

Guess I should get some up and down solutions...

Of course you should get up and down solutions.

You will need to check the pH of what you put in, and then check the pH of your run off to get an idea of what the pH of your soil is.  It will only give you a a general idea of what it is though.

Ok I'm gonna grab some solutions.

http://www.amazon.com/Flora-Hydroponics-32oz-Control-Combo/dp/B00894DQCI/ref=sr_1_10?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1366173592&sr=1-10&keywords=Ph+up+and+down+soil

These should be fine for soil right?

I've got some Chinese ph strips coming, hopefully they are accurate enough.

Thanks again!

May have been a blessing in disguise.

My tap water is testing 9. That's pretty bad isn't it? I must have horribly corroded pipes or these strips are no good.  :justdontknow:

Guess I'll need to pick up some distilled to check these strips
