Since the shop didn't send me the rpm-dimmer I had ordered, I always put the ventilation out at night with the timer instead of putting it on 20%.
I think this lead to excessive RH buildup and helped the mildew attack.
I think this might interest some other newbies like me. Don't fuck with ventilation or you can screw months of work and paranoia and probably a few hundred bucks for nothing because you were as mean and lazy as me. Fuck.

Mmm because then I can't sleep  I'd let it run on like 20% or something in the night, but on 100% (don't have an rpm controller) it sounds like the back ground noise on Starship Enterprise TNG

You can build a fan controller for a few bucks. 10' grounded orange extension cord, blue junction box (for outlets), and a FAN controller, not a dimmer switch, but usually right next to them. Amps are important if you run big/multiple fans. I opted for the 5A over the 1.5A, but both would work for one fan.
Cut the extension cord wherever you'll want the switch, put both cut ends into the junction box, wire the 3 wires with the wire nuts that come with the fan controller. Screw the switch in, plug the fan in and turn the switch all the way to low--turn the adjustment knob on the switch until the fan barely starts to run. put the faceplate on and your done.
I have a double junction box and wired the switch to an outlet so that I can plug in two fans.
Your brain will tune out the sound eventually. It doesn't take long before you become accustomed to it and cant sleep without at least 80 db of fan noise.
Its better to have a bad nights sleep than a bad crop.
