I am planning on cutting the room in half, 1kw per side, air cooled reflectors, each with it's own 8" fan.
I am thinking of remote mounting the ballasts outside the closet and they will have their own cooling system.
Does this sound do-able? Or is it too much in too little a space.
I can also add a fan on either side to help control temps.

Well if you are cutting it in half to have one side veg and one side flowering, I would recommend not having that much wattage on your veg side. There just isn't a need for it.

Do you think 600w MH would be too much?
The ballasts I'm looking at are switchable so I could just veg and then flower in each side. I could also veg out of the closet in another area.

Then just use the whole area for flowering and then use the closet to grow out your vegging plants.
