Interesting aroma (more like shits and giggles)

I'm having some weed ATM where the bud smells like "desperados", or heineken with lemon but the taste of the smoke is like strawberry cream tea.
Last time I had some that smelled like grapefruit and apricots on the fingers.
Once I had some which tasted like caramel while smoking and yet another time another strain of weed tasted like the lemon cream between certain small cookies.

Are these sensations characteristical for distinct strains or a strain lineage, or is it also the feeding?
