 Need some help Old School Hip-Hop and British Punk songs...

Hey guys so I gotta write this paper for a music class about how hip-hop in the late 70's took on many themes of British punk rock. The main focus is how they both used music as a means of breaking free from the mainstream of society and how Don Letts commented "Hip-hop is black punk". I am choosing the side agreeing with that statement because I believe many of the themes of punk, looking past the music itself and into the social themes, are similar to that of early hip-hop. For the assignment I need to compare 3 UK Punk songs to 3 American Hip-Hop songs from the era...this is providing to be very tough seeing how thats not really my generation. Does anyone out there have some suggestions of songs that have similar themes from each of those genres that I could write a few sentences about comparing lyrics and what not? I'd really appreciate your help guys thanks again!!!

mmmmmmmm, I can't really think of anything that early unfortunately...let me think.
1988...
and you could use that for any punk song.
Maybe...
AFAIK, Public Enemy was one of the first to start the whole political thing...
Other than that, Gang Starr was pretty political...I dunno though, all of these seem to be 10 years too late.

there really isn't much. Hip hop wasn't getting produced until 79
|

Lmao, that 9mm song is so good. I remember once when I was really into graff I got caught by some bike cops when I was doing a piece. I started running and jumped over a bunch of bushes and shit and was tearing ass through a gas station parking lot when my homie pulled up to get some smokes. I just dove right through his window (I wasn't as fat then lol) and he sped off.
He thought I robbed the place.

Does it have to be late 70's? If you can use the 80's, you could definitely add Black Flag's "Police Story" (1981) to go with Fuck Da Police" (1988) by NWA.
