Chiapas revolt in Mexico
    #607488 - 01/30/12 03:40 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

Hey guys, I am doing an essay on this subject... But I am having a hard time finding articles or websites about that, I am wondering if any of you guys got any pages you read or could find quickly.

When I search on google, it tries to get french pages, and most of them are useless... If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated!

My questions are:
1) Why are there revolts or tensions still presents since 1994?
2) What were the impacts of the zapatists revolt after the agreement made with the mexican federals?
3) Why did the zapatists felt the need of revolting?
4) What were the impacts on the natives Indians living in the Chiapas after these revolts?
5) What were the methods used by the zapatists against the mexican federals?

What exactly has that accomplished? We don't have a single currency, how does it affect me?

It lets you exploit other people in Mexico because your government has the most guns.

It puts small farmers (like the ones in Chiapas) in competition with huge farmers from USA or Canada, which is totally impossible for them, they lack the tools, technology and money for this.

Yea, I was just being facetious. I thought most big US companies outsourced to Mexico anyway?

It is quite possible, but still, lots of small time farmers aren't working for USA...

Also, the Chiapas revolt involves a lots of natives americans, they were pushed around to live in the mountains, where the lands aren't fertile, and there was (is) a lot of injustices going on over there...

I still have to learn a lot about it, at the end of semester I'll probably be able to explain better :awehigh:

Ahh yes, kinda makes me wish I could give some clever anecdotal wisdom about General Custard an Wounded Knee or the Trail of Tears..

Not to sound bigoted or anything, but I deem the contrasting development of histories between the collective Native American tribes to the European Holy Roman Empire quite interesting but also suspicious: one grows to respect the Earth and finds balance while the other uses extortion and coercion to inflate itself to the largest possible extent before collapsing. I guess this is that globalization thing we're gonna have to keep facing.

Aggressive globalization at today's scale is a threat like none the world has known.
