Anyone familiar with how hard/easy it is to get medical weed in New
Mexico? I only live a couple of hours away from NM and I figured I
could go see some quack and get a script.

Perhaps Google could answer more question than us directly.
My advice, get a PO Box in NM asap if you are serious, this will help give you a reference point as when you can claim citizenship in NM, start receiving mail there and return to check it periodically, say while looking for places to rent. During this time you will also want to go to a doctor to establish your condition for which you will be getting the MMJ.
In NM you have to deal directly with the state to be a patient, so I doubt a fake ID will really help you out in this case

You might want to go for chronic pain like fibromyalgia or muscle spasms instead of contracting AIDS. Fibromyalgia cannot be seen or measured, but it is considered real. I haven't seen the NM law, but chronic pain is probably one of the qualifiers.

the required conditions in NM are severe. It's not like having insomnia and you can get a card for it. The dept of health has held public hearings on conditions to be heard. They have a bunch of sick people come to city hall to present them with evidence, then that board makes a recommendation to the director and the director has the final say on whether the condition is severe enough to warrant a weed recommendation. It's complete bullshit. Otherwise, i know that the dispensaries are hard to come by. You can pick up a New Times magazine and find a doctor who will give you a rec, however. Here, the real sick people are the ones who get the ganj.
