When I use peat pellets I always kept enough water in the tray to go up the pellet 1/4 inch. Is it the same for rockwool? I saw a very old video that said only water up to the bottom of the rockwool, what water level have you guys found that works best?
Personally when i was using rockwool, don't anymore, now i just use hydroton and a aerocloner...anyways i would soak the rockwool in PH balanced water, 6-6.5, overnight. then squeeze out about 1/2 the water in the rockwool cube and put your cuttings into it. Add ph balanced water again if the cubes become too dry, but normally i found as long as you keep a dome on the tray you won't need to add more water b4 they root.

depending on how long your going to let them grow before you put them into your system. also if your using a heating mat and a tray w/ dome maybe fill the basin and an 1/8 of an inch up the cube jmt.
Save money and buy neoprene sleeves to fit your net pots. Use your system as a cloner all the way through to harvest. The sleeves will cost a bit to start but they are reusable.
