Hi everyone,
Me and my friend were having a discussion yesterday about my grow.
Another mate thought I would get around 2 pounds from my 5 chemdog plants lol.
I tried to tell him that once the plants are dried, they won't weigh anywhere near what they used to.
An example I saw online that I gave him, was one person got about 250g wet, which turned into about 57g dry.
He wouldn't believe me. Even went to the lengths of discussing it with his friend who he reckons knows everything about growing, and they were telling me what I had learned was wrong.
Now I know what I have read in my research, and put very little faith of his so called "experts". You know what I mean "My friend says this, my friend says that"
But two against one has got me thinking, maybe the forum post I read was wrong, or i misunderstood it.
So can anyone clarify, how much wet weight would you need to make 1 pound dry?

I think 4-5 lbs wet will get you 1 lb dry. You will not get 2 lbs from your 5 plants.

usually you get about 20% or so dry weight to wet weight ratio. 400W of HID lighting will pretty much never get you 2lbs of weed. And don't think that's like "pretty much never means if I'm really awesome I can be the exception to that rule" kind of thing, I mean, you'll never fucking get 2lbs of weed from 400W of HID lights unless you water your soil with legitimate Jesus Christ Urine.

Lols, I'll have to grab myself a bottle next time I go to the hydro shop. Prolly on the same shelf as the Dutch master gold and Canna nutes.
Anyways, I'm aiming for around 10 ounces dry. Is that achievable?

depends how large your plants are when you flower and indica's tend to yeild alot more than pure sativa strains, my last crop was Mazar and its about 85% indica, i flowered when my plants we're between 8 and 14 inches, only 2 where at 14 the rest between 8 and 10, and i averaged about an ounce of dried/cured bud per plant. generally i always expect an ounce from each plant.

Cools, I'm gonna train my plants using LST, and I wanna do a scrog, though I haven't decided if I'm gonna do it on this grow, or the next one
I would imagine these training techniques would increase yeilds by at least double, right?

You're overthinking this. Nobody can tell you how much you're going to get. LST or Scrog will increase your yields, but double?? Don't be absurd.
Grow your weed, enjoy the process, and then weigh it out in the end. It's literally impossible to predict your yield.

Odds are, unless you've been buying very good weed from a dispensary or someone else who grows their own, its going to be 1000x better than anything you've had anyway.
Grow it right, and the weight hardly even matters. You can pack a quarter of what you've been smoking before and be higher than ever before anyway.
I've even heard stuff about buds in dispensaries being kiefed and shit

Well hopefully if my Heavy Duty Fruitys get here before Friday, I'll pop a few of em and add to this grow.
And regardless of the yield in the end, I can say I'm having lots of fun growing  it's just hard trying not to count my eggs before they hatch.
