How long do you guys soak your seeds?

Title says it. I am curious to know how you guys soak your seeds? Is there a possibility of soaking them too long and drowning the seeds?

24 hours, then in a wet paper towel inside of a ziploc baggie. i usually blow the ziploc up like a balloon, and put it in a warm dark place. usually have sprouts within a day, and almost 100% germ rate. well maybe 99%

This is the best way to go about it.

Thanks guys. I have never really been worried about germinating seeds before. I normally just put them in some dirt and Mother Nature's magic happens. However, I recently bought some "quality genetics" and I want every one of those expensive little beans to sprout.

Be careful that you don't mess up the tap root when you go to transfer them into your soil from the moist napkin, and don't let them dry out either.

What is the advantage of using the wet paper towel over just putting the seeds in soil after a 24 hour soak?

So the wet paper towel tek is basically just for people who are too impatient to wait for it to sprout in the soil?

Myself I like the towel method but I myself don't use paper towels I use a dish type of rag then put in a ziplock bag and put on top of the fridge. I found that temps are the most important thing to get the maximum number of seeds to germ. I like temps around 80f to 85f. Myself I do not soak in water before hand and usually have seeds starting to sprout within 12 to 24 hrs.

I put my seeds in a shot glass of RO water and cover it with a dark glass. I put them on top of the fridge. I have small tap roots in 24 hrs. The temps are perfect for me on that fridge.

Well apparently the fridge is a good place to start.

I use non bleached coffee filters in a plastic bag... I used to just wet them and toss seeds in, but lately i've been soaking the beans for 4-12 hours then into the coffee filter but so far haven't noticed a difference in germ rates...
I also do it ontop of the fridge :P
