So I have been smoking my purple haze plant, which I pulled almost 3 oz from I think, for the entire summer.
I was breaking up some to roll up a blunt, and I found a seed in the last gram I had from it. 
Wtf? I've never had a male plant. The seed was more or less just an empty shell, but it was in there.
Whats the deal with that?

Pretty common
From my readings if a plant goes beyond its normal time frame without being pollinated somehow the male genes kick in for it to produce a seed to keep its genes going for our grandchildren

Any of you guys ever try growing out one of these types of seeds? I was smoking some good bud that I found 2 random seeds in and I was wondering what would happen if you grew them.

Mine was more or less just an empty shell. I crushed it on accident.
Also, kinda makes sense that it'd make hermies. I dunno about that, but its just what I assume.

yeah, i have. I found a seed in some og kush i got from cali a few years ago. When it grew out it went hermi on me. I have a grow log of that somewhere here.
