clones from a flowering plant?
    #574816 - 07/26/11 11:06 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Can you take a plant that's past veg stage and is well into flowering and make a clone from it? I'm just wondering cause I can't understand how the clipping goes from veg to flowering then back to veg.

You can but normally they take longer to root, be patient, use a humidity dome, rooting gel and whatever else you can to make the cloning easier.

Am I wrong in saying you should also clip off any calyx development so no energy's waisted on the bud growing and energy is focused on root development?

Thanks guys. If you read my next post, you'll see that I found a better course of action. This is my first grow so I didn't know you can sex your plants just by extending the veg cycle. I planned on having a long veg cycle anyways. I'm just gonna keep the seedlings in extended growth rather then screw around with their veg/flower cycles. Now if anyone can ask this next question It would be great....  So, what I'm doing is keeping my plants in indefinite veg cycle until I get a good place for flowering. After quite a few weeks the plants will show their sex. I have 6 definite mature females and 3 seedlings that aren't sexed yet. As long as on stay on the ball, and keep an eye on the plants daily I shouldn't have a problem with pollination, should I?

No you shouldn't, I don't think male pollen sacks open in veg, I might be wrong though.

Are you suggesting that you revert the whole plant back to veg after they show sex in 12/12?

That is what he was p'lanning to do, now he is simply going to veg until sex shows, wants to know if he should be worried about pollen when sex shows.

Yes, you need to worry abt pollen when flowering.

I always clone my plants and flower the clones to find out sex.
That way no need for worries.

One male has seeded a 4 x 4 area. Got more seed weight than bud weight.
Will never let that happen again.

yea but when its just in veg state I don't need to worry about pollen, right? Cause I know if I keep the males in veg state long enough they will show their sex without going into flowering.
