Evan Williams Honey Reserve
 Has anyone ever tried it? I've never had liquor that I could just sip on, but this + ice = fucking incredible.

Yeah the cheaper whiskeys are jumping on the band wagon after Seagrams 7 Dark Honey, like Wild Turkey American Honey and even Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey. So so now Evan Williams, gross. I'll stick with my 12 y/o Jameson.

The JD was terrible. I've never liked JD. Flavored or otherwise. Overpriced, overhyped imo.

Ive only tried the Seagrams honey. It was good for chilled shots but it doesnt mix well with sprite or coke. Like said before too syrupy and not strong enough. I should have tried drinking it straight with a few ice cubes.

Yeah, thats how I enjoyed that stuff. I can't drink liquor straight. I really hate doing shots, but this stuff was awesome in a glass with ice cubes. It was perfect for the super heat wave that just started up here yesterday.
If I can find it for $10 a bottle I'll probably get a case of it.

Yeah dude I saw this documentary about whiskey in Ireland and this whisky maker of like 5+ generations that owned one of the finest distilleries said that himself. Any coloring is added in after for visual appeal.

I dunno about that. I think the whiskey gets a lot of it's color comes from the barrels it is aged in. So if it was not aged in wooden barrels, then yes it would be clear, but you would also lose some flavor that comes from that process.

They showed the whiskey coming right out of various species of wooden barrels clear as water.

Yeah it's just the amber hue from aging in a charred barrel........... before the barrel it's like moonshine whiskey.

I mean I am positive that makers of most single malts do not "add coloring." You think they add dyes or something? The color comes from the barrel. I am sure there are ways to treat the barrel prior to aging that would avoid the coloration of the liquor.
