Ah.. so a process done to the barrel that imparts the coloring. Makes sense.
The unaltered barrels do not give the color.

They do dye cheap whisky but they never dye the expensive stuff because the process of aging is what makes it cost more.

Yeah, "caramel coloring" :lol:

They pull that with a lot of cheap shit. A lot of the really cheap stuff is just neutral spirits with liquor flavor added in.
