There is an estimated population of 55 millions dogs in the United States. There are approximately 20 human deaths per year due to a dog attack.

Therefore, an infinitesimal percent (.0000004%) of the dog population is involved in a fatal attacks.

Ok, op asked for help picking a breed for a pet!

Enough on the personal phobias. We are all aware of the possible dangers behind big breed in general. Pits can be a bit aggressive but so can a small chihuahua! As matter of fact I have seen some out right vicious small breeds too.

If any of you want to continue your debates on pitbulls, do it elswhere! This thread has been pretty much detailed over this debate.

 Truth, although it was an interesting tangent for awhile.

I'm starting to look more towards a Boxer, Beaucerons are incredibly difficult to find a breeder for and also pretty damned expensive - although price isn't a big factor for me on selection of dog.

There's a nice 10 week old dark brindle Boxer/Lab at a nearby shelter I'm going to take a look at. Female though, anyone have any preference for gender in dogs and reason for that preference?

Females have less tendency to try to assert their dominance.

you know what i did in english class? I came to class stoned out of my mind every day, i chugged vodka in the back of class, i put dead fish in the ceiling tiles. i put a gallon of old milk and orange juice in the file cabinet before winter vacation. i brought snakes in a tied up sweater and let them loose during class. i didnt go to school to learn, i went because i had to. i didnt care, and i didn't fucking listen to that stupid bitch. and i still don't fucking care. i tore the pages out of her books and burned them, and threw away all the books in the class, two books per day.  :twobooks:

Sounds pretty good, brindle is my favorite, looks like tiger stripes. As for gender I think it's up to personal preference.
Female dogs do bleed when in heat but I think it stops after they get spayed <<< remember to do that early, it can be more traumatic later on

be a decent human being and get a dog from a shelter or rescue program for fucks sake. you guys claim to love dogs so much, actions speak louder than words.

if you simply have to have whatever stupid breed it is you want, at least donate to a no-kill animal shelter, to offset the dogs you are killing.

fuck pits

thet're such scummy dogs that some cities even take them from people's homes and put them down straight away

why do they do that? because those fucking dogs are goddamn menace

that's why

I'm sorry but not all are like that, I've gotta say most that are like that is because of their owner/trainer... I had a pit in my house growing up and it was the most lovable dog you could have, she never bit anybody even if you tortured her,,, you had to be more scared of the crazy cat than the dog.

well tonight is the night for dog obedience class sign ups, my dog deff doesn't have a temper, he just overly excited, so hopefully more time around other dogs will help him with this, actually I'm positive it will help him with lots of things... Im signing up for general obedience, and also an obstacle course class..

Or check your local newspaper and see if anyone has pups to give away that need good homes.  I got my dog from some people 20 mins from me, love her to death
